As GM retreats to the US and Asian manufacturers invest in Europe, other auto alliances are creating new auto giants.

The move from the combustion engine to new technologies is encouraging new entrants into the car sector. Tech companies like Intel and Tesla are seeing car production less as a heavy engineering skill, but more as a hi-tech software consumer product. 

This means the old auto manufacturers need to find new alliances and new markets embracing new technologies. This begs the question - Who will be the big 3 auto manufacturers in 2030 - Ford GM and Chrysler?  Toyota, Nissan and Peugoet? BMW Volkswagen and Audi? Or, will in fact be Google INTEL and Infosys?
